Have you developed lesson plans using the CEFR framework?That’s what the Language Centre at Care for Newcomers is all about, and we have an exciting opportunity for you!We’re looking for an energetic, responsible person with excellent interpersonal skills to join us as our Substitute Spanish Language Instructor. When our Spanish Language Instructor is away, you’ll deliver engaging, CEFR-aligned lessons they have prepared and help create an inclusive learning environment for adult learners.What you’ll doInstruction: Deliver communicative, learner-centred lessons, bring in cultural elements of the Spanish-speaking world, and encourage learners to take ownership of their learning.Assessment: Monitor student progress using CEFR-aligned tools, give timely and constructive feedback, and keep accurate attendance and records.What you bringRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or Applied Linguistics1 to 2 years of experience teaching adultsNative-like proficiency in SpanishKnowledge of CEFR and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)Legal eligibility to work in CanadaAvailability to work in person on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, as neededPreferred:Master’s degree or ELE certification3+ years of experience teaching multilingual adult groupsDigital literacy and experience with blended learningYou also have:A passion for teaching Spanish as a second language to adultsAn understanding of adult education principles and methodsStrong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a teamWhat we offerA competitive wage of $30 to $35 per hourAn inclusive and diverse work environmentLots of opportunities to learn and growOur commitment to inclusionWe welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
