Care for Newcomers helps newcomers settle into many communities in the Central Alberta area. We focus on locating services within nearby towns, villages, counties, cities, and regional districts to help newcomers feel supported and welcomed in communities outside Red Deer. Our Care Workers Settlement Practitioner works closely with in-place local community members, schools, and agencies to build a network of services for newcomers and their families.

Alberta is a beautiful province with many attractive communities for newcomers to call home. However, moving to smaller Central Alberta communities outside of Red Deer has its own challenges as every municipality has different access to services that newcomers need for settlement.

Care for Newcomers seeks to connect available services and service providers throughout Central Alberta to valuable resources, making moving to any part of Central Alberta easier for newcomers and their families.

We help newcomers and in-place providers with:

  • Community connections

  • Group activities and events

  • Interpretation & translation

  • Improving english skills

  • Settlement support in schools

  • Learning Canadian culture and society

  • Documentation and basic needs

  • Friendship and work experience mentorship

  • Volunteer opportunities

Care’s Regional Settlement services also include public awareness programs and diversity training for people interested in supporting inclusivity and welcoming newcomers into their communities. In addition, we are happy to work with organizations, employers, and community members throughout Central Alberta to help newcomers begin their new lives in Canada.
